Next, reach out to a few key people to join you on the Founding Board. Ask each of them to independently fill out the worksheet – as you did. As each woman completes the spreadsheet, merge it with the others to get an immediate sense of how diverse your team is. The more overlap between lists – the less diverse you are. It’s critical to complete this exercise before you fully populate your board! Examine each potential board candidate and try to select qualified women from outside the circle of your team. These women will know people you do not know and bring skills you will need.
